Like many people, we really want to work in, and create startups in the tech industry.
Prestart aims to provide a regular space for budding entrepreneurs to meet up in the evening and work on their startup ideas. Everyone attending must be willing to share their ideas. This is the place to meet a co-founder, try out a concept, and decide if you really want to push ahead and make a real product.
Prestart is all about helping people who have full-time jobs, but don’t have lots of cash to risk, launch a startup. All for free. Our manifesto is short and simple:
- Share you ideas
- Co-work for free
- Ask for help
- Help someone else
In November, the prime minister said:
“Our ambition is to bring together the creativity and energy of Shoreditch and the incredible possibilities of the Olympic Park to help make east London one of the world's great technology centres.”
We couldn’t agree more. The environment for startups is excellent. TechHub and The Hub provide plenty of affordable co-working spaces. A hungry geek can almost live off the free beer and pizza that is handed out at evening groups on a daily basis. But there is no space for eager entrepreneurs to take those first tentative steps towards being a startup.
The political will is clearly on show, so right now we’re looking to Mayor of London’s office to help make this a success in London. In the words of Boris Johnson:
“We must do everything we can to support its development as one of the UK’s leading hubs for businesses exploiting the digital and creative markets.”
We are currently seeking sponsorship or other financial resources to fund the space, and maybe some light refreshments for one evening every week, fortnight or month. We’re also looking for VC or Angels who want to come by and offer advice. This is not the place to find funding, it’s the place to get help, and get started.
